Smile

To my Beautiful Family & Wonderful Friends –

It’s Ok.

It’s ok to be sad. It’s ok to feel pain. It’s ok to miss each other. It’s ok.  It is ok because it is ok to be happy. It’s ok to feel joy and it’s ok to know peace.

If we had never known happiness, peace or joy – sadness, anger and the tinge of pain you feel when you miss something or someone wouldn’t be as palpable as it is today.

It is awesome that it is hard to say goodbye.

It’s awesome because it means the love that is shared through our friendships and within our family is real. It is meaningful.

Besides, I won’t be gone long.

I understand many people see this Journey as a trip which could mean a lot of things or something I’m doing for many different reasons. The reason I’m leaving is simple – I’m just following a dream to explore for bit.

I’m lucky I have the time, means and support from my family and friends to do this. (Thank you!)

So when the tinge of pain comes up and you realize you are missing a hug or the empty chair at Sunday dinner just seems too empty – Smile.

Smile because someone you love is following their heart and living a dream they have been dreaming for a long time.

Smile.

Smile because every moment – even those which feel painful or sad – are wonderful moments. Because those are wonderful feelings. Those are there to remind us we are alive in this moment. Know that we can smile and find joy in sadness and pain because those feelings are there because we love, and we were loved in return.

This is a happy moment –

I’ll see you soon, G.C.

P.S. I think Mark Twain said it best –

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bow lines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

It’s 55 degrees in Auckland right now. It should be sunny when you arrive and sunny all day Friday as well. It also looks like the temperature will stay pretty steady in the upper fifties with a little rain over the weekend. Might want to plan accordingly. Have a great time!
